Chicago!!

overdrawn
Oh man I am getting pretty excited about my upcoming trip to Chicago!! We've rented this gorgeous place for a week, can you even believe how lovely it is? Me either!

I am bravely flying into the city on Monday the 16, a few days before Jairus is (he's got a few dates left on his tour after I get there), which is rare for me! I don't do a ton of solo traveling. But I'm looking forward to it! I'm going to hang out with lection and palegreenthings and I hope brantastic and have adventures!

Then Jairus will get there on Wednesday the 18, and we'll have the rest of the week there together before leaving Monday morning. We plan to go for lots of walks and visit lots of galleries and have good times with our pals and enjoy sharing a stranger's neat apartment.

It's going to be our first vacation together that isn't a visit or a tour! (The tour will be over by the time our vacation starts.) I can't even believe it's happening!! I feel like I've won some kind of amazing prize, but really we just decided to do it and then made a plan around it, which is even better than it being some kind of delicate windfall.

I am also really excited for your trip to Chicago! I am sorry we haven't been able to plan a whole lot yet, but I am going to do my best to get the 17th off so we can go to the MCA and eat Ghirardelli chocolate and let's be honest probably wander around air-conditioned buildings together because W to the T to the F is up with this fucking city and its 100+ temperatures these days.

Haha! I pasted the wrong URL from flickr and didn't come back to look. Amazing.

I CANNOT say enough amazing things about airbnb. When Jairus and I were in Montreal last we stayed in this adorable place for 50 bucks a night and it was PERFECT.

Did I tell you about the awesome airbnb place Jim and I stayed in in Portland? It was, like, 3 blocks from our old apartment, completely lovely and awesome and I wanted to live there for all of the ever.

I find solo travel very liberating and soothing to my independent soul. Have fun in Chicago -- it's a great town.

Yay!

You're right by Lula, which is my favorite breakfast place in the universe (and that's saying a lot) and the place where we randomly saw Andrew Bird and Ira Glass possibly admired my Beastie Boys t-shirt by coming up to me and reading it.

Okay so I get really excited about taking great people to my favorite places.

You're also close to Longman and Eagle, a place run by a friend of my good friend timmy_fuck_up that's supposed to rule.

As I said before, we've got guest passes for the Museum of Contemporary Art and basically it's just super exciting to have someone visiting. I hope we get to see you a ton!
